Chapter 1116 – Got caught
Along the road.
The situation is tense.
Yao Shun and Old Hong were not only carrying arms. They were also carrying other items that the military could not discover. They are Asians, and their identity would be exposed if caught. The military had set up this checkpoint because of Zhong Lizhen and the death of Old Lui and other State Security agents.
They had let their guard down.
Yao Shun blamed himself for bringing his gun with him. He felt this mission was too dangerous and brought it with him. This is not his fault, as no one expected this to happen.

Yao Shun looked at Zhang Longjuan. “Sorry, Ms. Zhang. I had dragged you into this.”
Zhang Longjuan stopped smiling and replied seriously. “I should be fine. But my company might be implicated.”
Yao Shun knew what would happen. “It’s impossible to be fine.”
Zhang Longjuan smiled. “Who cares. Let’s see what happens next.”
Old Hong asked anxiously. “What should we do now? Is it too late for us to turn back?”
Yao Shun sighed. “They noticed us when we stopped the car. Their cars are faster, and we cannot outrun them.”
Old Hong panicked. “Let’s try.”
Yao Shun took a deep breath. “Stay calm and look for an opportunity.”
“I understand.” Old Hong tensed up.
The soldiers at the checkpoint noticed the Buicks stopped, but they were still searching the two cars.
Dong Xuebing was relieved he had tagged along. He was not nervous at all. He had faced dozens of enemies with rifles and did not even blink. He thought nothing about these soldiers and continued with his act. “Sis Zhang, Brother Yao, what is it?”
Yao Shun looked at Dong Xuebing. “I’m sorry, Xiao Dong.”
Dong Xuebing blinked. “What are you sorry about? What are we running?”
Dong Xuebing does not want to expose himself before Zhang Longjuan and Yao Shun. Maybe they might escape. He had a bad reputation in China and did not want to worsen it. He will try to keep his purpose here as long as possible.
“Sorry.” Zhang Longjuan said to Dong Xuebing. “Sigh…. I should not have let you come with us. It’s my fault.”
Yao Shun continued. “We don’t know if we can escape. Be prepared if we are caught. We are from the State Security.”
“State Security?!” Dong Xuebing pretended to be shocked.
“We will die if they search us.”
Zhang Longjuan replied. “Don’t tell Xiao Dong about these. The lesser he knows, the safer he is. He will be fine even if we are caught.”
Old Hong said. “You are too naïve, Ms. Zhang.”
Yao Shun sighed. “That’s right. How can he be fine?” He bowed toward Zhang Longjuan and Dong Xuebing. “We had dragged you two into this. This had nothing to do with you, and I am sorry. We will try to escape if possible.”
Old Hong looked at Yao Shun. “Brother Yao?”
“Go!” Yao Shun clenched his teeth.
The few soldiers in front had finished searching with the two cars in front and started walking towards the Buicks.
Vroom!
The Buicks reversed suddenly.
The few soldiers were surprised, and one of them raised their rifle. They shouted something at them.
Old Hong ignored them. He turned the car around and sped off.
The soldiers did not open fire. They ran back to their jeeps and started chasing.
The Buicks had a head start and had pulled some distance between them. However, the military jeeps were modified and quickly caught up with them.

Twenty meters….
The soldiers got closer and closer….
“Old Hong, go off the road!” Yao Shun shouted.
Old Hong turned the steering wheel and drove into the grassland. They want to slow the military jeeps behind them. However, they were caught up in no time.
Old Hong sighed. “We cannot escape.”
Yao Shun said. “Just get as far as possible.” He reached to his ankle and pulled out his gun. “Try to find a cover and hold them. We must let Ms. Zhang and Xiao Dong escape. They have nothing to do with this.”
“I understand.” Old Hong was prepared to die.
Yao Shun decided because he knew those soldiers had not seen Dong Xuebing and Zhang Longjuan’s faces. They were also wearing sunglasses. They would not be caught if they escaped.
Zhang Longjuan frowned. “Xiao Yao….”
Yao Shun held his gun. “Don’t say anything. Just run when you all have the chance.”
Dong Xuebing was touched. He did not expect them to do this.
Old Hong also took out his gun. Dong Xuebing could tell they were prepared to sacrifice.
Yao Shun shouted. “The higher-ups are more concerned about this mission than you imagine. I respect your patriotism. Suppose we will not rest in peace if you are implicated. We were prepared to be killed when we joined this mission and had left letters for our families. Just run when you get the chance. Don’t need to worry for us.”
Zhang Longjuan was looking terrible. “What are you talking about? We will be fine.”
“We don’t have time to talk now. Get ready. We cannot hold them back for too long.” Yao Shun shouted. “They had caught up with us! Old Hong!”
Old Hong replied. “I will kill them all!”
Yao Shun laughed. “That’s right. We will get revenge for Old Lui.”
“We can still run.” Zhang Longjuan does not want to see them get killed. Furthermore, Dong Xuebing and her might not escape. “Let’s surrender. I can use my connections to get us out. My family still has influence here.”
“It’s useless.” Yao Shun replied. “They will not let us go as this concerns their national interest. Moreover, the military will not wait so long.”

“Enough. Old Hong, prepare to stop the car. They are here.”
“Xiao Yao!”
“Bring Xiao Dong away!”
The military jeep sped up and crashed into the Buicks. Old Hong lost control of the car, and it flipped.
Airbags were deployed!
The car flipped over a few times and stopped on the grassland.
Dong Xuebing tumbled around in the car. He was giddy and managed to open his eyes slightly. He looked toward Zhang Longjuan and Yao Shun.
Sis Zhang had fainted and was bleeding from her forehead.
Yao Shun and Old Hong were stuck in their seats because of the airbags. They were in a daze and looked injured.

Dong Xuebing was furious.
The windows were shattered, and he could hear the soldiers coming nearer.
“Sis Zhang!” Dong Xuebing pushed Zhang Longjuan slightly. “Wake up, Sis Zhang.”
Zhang Longjuan opened her eyes slowly and realized their car had flipped over. She struggled to sit up.
Bang! Bang!
Gunshots….
Old Hong had opened fire. He got out of his seat and fired two shots toward the back.
Bang… bang… bang….
The soldiers returned fire.
Bullets and sparks flew. A bullet brushed Dong Xuebing’s ear.
“@@#%$#^#$%”
The soldiers shouted in English.
Dong Xuebing does not understand and cannot hear clearly. It should be asking them to surrender.
“Run!” Yao Shun struggled to get up and fired back at the soldiers.

“Run! Run to the road!”
Old Hong had run out of ammo.
When Zhang Longjuan kicked the door open and was prepared to pull Xiao Dong out with her, she heard guns clocking behind them. Eight soldiers surrounded them. Yao Shun had run out of ammo too.
Without firepower, how are they going to provide cover?
The soldiers pointed their rifles at them.
Yao Shun knew it was the end for them.
Old Hong cursed.
Only Dong Xuebing was not nervous. Yao Shun and Zhang Longjuan thought he was shocked. But they do not know Dong Xuebing was not worried at all. This was nothing compared to what he had faced before.
