Wen Dongjun was screaming his lungs out in a KTV. This song should be a smoothing ballet, but he made it into a rock song. Other than he got the beat, everything else was out of tune!
This was an old song from a few years ago. During these few years, many singers had sung it, and the original singer had performed during Spring Gala night. It was because Hong Kong will be returning to China this year.
The VCD player was introduced much earlier than before, and most of the nightclubs had been converted to KTVs. KTVs can be found everywhere along the streets and their décor was much classier than before.
Although KTV had appeared, customers still can’t play the songs they wanted through computers. Currently, it is only a VCD player, a TV, and a whole stack of VCDs. The customers have to search for their favorite songs in the discs and play them themselves. This is better than the earliest version, where there are no lyrics and only have background music.
Today is a classmate gathering. But this time, it’s not Feng Yu who was paying. It’s Wen Dongjun, and the gathering was held in Beijing’s most expensive KTV.
This moron might seem to be lazing around in the government sector, but he is going to be promoted to Deputy Section Chief after the Lunar New Year, and his superiors had confirmed this.
“Liu Kun, cheers!” Wen Dongjun raised his beer mug and drank with Liu Kun.
Liu Kun was happy for Wen Dongjun. Although Wen Dongjun is not smart and sometimes do stupid things, he treated his friends and classmates well.
Liu Kun was also doing well. Although he was still studying for his Masters, his professor had told him he will be selected for his Doctorate, and the University will hire him as an Associate Professor.
This was in line with Liu Kun’s character as he loves doing research. During this gathering, Liu Kun had brought his girlfriend along. His girlfriend is his junior in school.
This junior is from Shanghai, and her parents are doing business. Although the company is not considered big, her family is also a millionaire. Liu Kun’s family are vegetable farmers but his girlfriend and her parents did not look down on him. They felt their future son-in-law will be at least an Associate Professor in the future and it’s better than getting a businessman son-in-law.
Time files and everyone had changed. But their friendship remains the same.
Feng Yu was singing happily, and Wen Dongjun tried to join in. Feng Yu had no choice but to stop.
This moron’s voice was too loud and can’t sing at all!
You don’t know how to sing why are you snatching the microphone from others? You don’t need to sing-along with everyone else! You invited us here is to sing and not to listen to your screams!
Wen Dongjun happily ‘sings’ finish this song and looked at the rest proudly.
“I have something to announce. Listen carefully. Zhang Han and I will be getting married on 2nd July!”
Ah? These two are going to get married? Feng Yu congratulated him and gave Liu Kun a signal.
Liu Kun immediately raises a bottle of beer. “Dongjun, congratulations. You must finish this bottle!”
“Thank you. Cheers!” Wen Dongjun finished the bottle of beer and went to the toilet.
Feng Yu quickly picks up the microphone. Damn! I can finally sing a song in peace.
Li Na held Zhang Han’s hand and asked excitedly. “When did you two decided on this? Tell us!”
“We had decided about this yesterday.” Zhang Han said blissfully.
Zhang Han’s father is a high-ranking government official, and she knew her father will help Wen Dongjun move up the ranks before he retires. She, on the other hand, has no ambitions to move upwards and was satisfied with being a clerk. Anyway, her job is simple and not dangerous.
Before Feng Yu could finish his song, Wen Dongjun returned and snatched the microphone from him, before passing it to Liu Kun.
Feng Yu gave Wen Dongjun a stare. Can’t you pee slower? I had just started singing!
“Xiao Yu, Uncle Zhang told me that although the government did not forbid government servants to trade shares, the regulations might change anytime. What should I do with my family’s money? Keep it in the bank?” Wen Dongjun asked.

“Buy properties.”

As the population increases and the government stops giving out houses, there is a lack of homes in Beijing and the property prices surged. Investing in properties is definitely better than keeping it with the banks.
“What’s the use of properties? My parents and her parents all have their own houses. The house we are living in now has 3 rooms and my parents have their own place. If I buy another house, my mother might think that I do not want to live with them after my father retires.” Wen Dongjun said.
“Who told you to ask Uncle Wen to live there? You can rent out the house, and you can collect rents while the property value increases. If you need money in the future, you can just sell one of your properties. You have lots of money now and even if you buy 3 rooms apartment, you can buy at least 3 units. If you buy 2 rooms apartments, you have no problem buying 5 units!”
“5 units? Who can I rent it to?” Wen Dongjun had doubts about renting apartments out to others.
“You know where Wind and Rain building is? Go and buy the properties there. That place has lots of offices or Beijing companies. Do you think all their employees are from Beijing? Foreigners all stay in hotels?”
Feng Yu shook his head. Wen Dongjun does not have any talents in making money. Even a pig will know how to do business after staying by my side for so long. But he got to admit that no one else is as carefree as Wen Dongjun.
Wen Dongjun’s wife is pretty and loves him. His job is also smooth sailing, and he never needs to worry about money or career. Everything seems to be going well.
Wen Dongjun suddenly realized this. “You are telling me to buy apartments in the newest Tai Hua estate? The estate developed by Bing City Pharmaceutical’s real estate subsidiary?”
“You can also buy apartments near the universities. Many couples will go to hotels, but some prefer to rent an apartment near to their schools. They will claim they need a quiet place to study, but you should know what’s the real reason. With demand, there will be a market!” Feng Yu patted Wen Dongjun’s shoulders. You and Zhang Han had tasted the forbidden fruit when you two are still in university. You should know about this.
“Ok. I will go and buy properties later. In the future, I can still spend all my salary since I still have additional income from the rentals. This is a good idea, and it’s better than saving my money in the banks.” Wen Dongjun said excitedly.
Feng Yu shook his head. Your future father-in-law can help you with your career, and what are you thinking? If it’s someone else, he or she will be thinking how to climb up the ranks. You are the other only one who thinks of enjoying life every day!
