Dong Xuebing’s words truly stunned many people.
No one had expected Secretary Dong to come over and correct Jiaolin County’s mistake. Not only did he save them from embarrassment, but the atmosphere instantly changed. The young staff member from the commerce bureau kept nodding, promising, “Yes, Secretary. I will study harder and won’t make such mistakes again.”
These three bosses did have some industry recognition but were not considered real estate tycoons. Dong Xuebing intentionally exaggerated their words to elevate them.
Wang Ying was quite pleased. “Secretary Don is elevating us too much.”
Zhang Shuaibing also looked at Dong Xuebing again, thinking this county secretary was impressive. Even the commerce bureau staff handling the details got their information wrong. Just then, another group of investors from the same plane arrived.
It was three people, but they arrived one after another, clearly not familiar with each other.
Zhang Dongfang and Wei Zhixuan quickly went over to greet them. “Hello, welcome, welcome.”
Each time he said those words, it felt like the sincerity wasn’t quite there. Dong Xuebing glanced at his watch; his flight wouldn’t arrive soon. One of the commerce bureau staff immediately said, “This is our county’s Secretary, Dong Xuebing.”
Mr. Chen’s expression changed, and he warmly shook Dong Xuebing’s hand.
Dong Xuebing didn’t neglect the other investors either. After briefly speaking with Mr. Chen, he turned to another middle-aged man. From overhearing some of the commerce bureau staff’s whispered conversations, it seemed this man was also an investor but not on their invitation list. They were stumbling over how to address and interact with him.
Dong Xuebing smiled and extended his hand, “Mr. Dong.”
Mr. Dong, who had been watching them speak and converse, didn’t expect someone to call out his surname suddenly. He had a clear self-awareness; he was just an average-sized businessman, not very well-known, and wasn’t even invited on the list. This situation left him somewhat puzzled.
Dong Xuebing shook his hand. “I saw you on TV during a charity auction earlier this year. I remember you bought a screen, and all the proceeds went to a school. I’ve always respected philanthropists, so it’s a great honor to have Mr. Dong visit our county to explore investment. Welcome.”
Mr. Dong was quite surprised. “I just came on my own.”
Dong Xuebing said, “It was our oversight. We didn’t think we could invite you. We definitely would have sent you an invitation if we had known.”
Mr. Dong laughed, thinking that the county secretary was incredibly amusing.
For the rest of the time, Dong Xuebing helped the county officials welcome the investors. Several planes had landed, and investors began to arrive one by one. The staff from the commerce bureau were already overwhelmed and made frequent mistakes. But Dong Xuebing would step forward whenever this happened and call each investor by name. With dozens of people from all over the country, Dong Xuebing seemed to know them.
Zhang Dongfang and the commerce bureau staff watched in amazement.
